Technology Accreditation Awarded at New England Institute of Technology

WARWICK, RI – Dr. Thomas F. Wylie, Senior Vice President and Provost at New England Institute of Technology, announced that the Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and the Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology have been accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET, Inc.) of Baltimore, MD effective through September 30, 2011.

ABET is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as the organization responsible for the accreditation of education programs leading to degrees in engineering, engineering technology, computing and applied science. The ABET list of accredited programs by such organizations as the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), relevant licensing and certification boards, professional engineering and technical societies, employers and the institutions themselves, “New England Institute of Technology is proud to be recognized and accredited by ABET,” stated Senior Vice President / Provost Wylie.

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology focuses on manufacturing, product and process design addressing today’s job market emphasizing product design, tool and machine design, and manufacturing methods, as well as supporting engineering professions such as development engineers, application engineers, CAD engineering specialists, and basic engineering problem solvers. Students in the Electronics Engineering Technology bachelor’s degree program are presented with applications of complex communications, process manufacturing and microcontroller systems in order to develop an increased level of understanding that enhances their professional value to prospective employers.
