RI FIRST Tech Challenge 9th Season

Call for Volunteers

The FIRST Tech Challenge (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) in Rhode Island is looking for technical professionals, educators, parents and all others interested in supporting middle and high school robotic teams.  Each season approximately 32 robotic teams design, build and competed with their robot in the RI FIRST Tech Challenge.

The 9th annual RI FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) tournament will be held on Saturday,  February 7, 2015 at the Automotive Technology Center at New England Institute of Technology in Warwick, Rhode Island. Teams will need to earn their way to the state tournament by participating in a qualifying event.

The FIRST Tech Challenge in Rhode involves approximately 300 Rhode Island student teams putting their robots to the test. The teams compete in a timed technical challenge against each other. The day is full of teams cheering for the robots. Adult volunteers are assigned key roles to keep the qualifiers and tournament on track.

We need you! We need you to work with student robotic teams as part of the qualifying and state tournaments, serve as a mentor to a team over the course of the season, or offer to visit teams to talk about careers in technology. No need to be an expert in robotics or engineering, just have a willingness to support our R.I. students in their interest in technology.
