Reference Sheet:

This form is required for ALL enrolled students, and is used to assist financial aid officers in contacting students about financial aid matters, including student loan repayment issues. Click here to download Reference Sheet or Click here to fill out electronically.


Entrance Counseling for Direct Stafford Loan Borrowers:

 www.studentloans.gov (under the Manage My Student Loan icon on the upper left area of the page) This link provides access to the Department of Education website which enables students to complete their federally required on line loan counseling session for federal student loans. The Entrance Counseling introduces new student borrowers to their rights and responsibilities regarding repaying their loans.

Exit Counseling for Direct Stafford Loan Borrowers:

 www.studentloans.gov (under the Tools and Resources box in the lower center area of the page) This link provides access to the Department of Education website which enables student borrowers to complete their federally required on line loan counseling session for federal student loans upon graduating or withdrawing from college. The Exit Counseling reviews student borrowers’ rights and responsibilities regarding repaying their loans. The Exit Counseling also instructs student borrowers on accessing their individual federal student loan history. 

Completing the Master Promissory Note (MPN) for Direct Loan borrowers:

www.studentloans.gov (under the Manage My Student Loan icon on the upper left area of the page) This link provides access to the Department of Education website which enables students to sign the Master Promissory Note for their Federal Direct Stafford Loans (both Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans). This site also allows parents of dependent students to apply for a Federal Direct PLUS loan on behalf of their student, and enables the parent borrower to complete and sign the Master Promissory Note for the Direct PLUS loan as well. The loan borrower will need to enter their federal PIN number to log on to these functions. PIN numbers can be created, retrieved or reset on line at www.pin.ed.gov

Reviewing Your Federal Student Loan Borrowing History:

www.nslds.ed.gov (click on the Financial Aid Review box) This link provides access to the Department of Education website which displays federal student loan history for individual loan borrowers. The loan borrower must log on to view their own confidential loan information, and must enter their federal PIN number to access this function. PIN numbers can be created, retrieved or reset on line at www.pin.ed.gov.
