Over the weekend of March 10 – 13, 2017, New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) students are demonstrating its IDEALENS K2 Virtual Reality (VR) headset at the PAX East gaming conference in Boston.
NEIT is currently the first and the only university in the world to use the headset for virtual campus tours and for college student instruction, according to Henry Zhang, Overseas Market Manager for the headset producer IDEALSEE GROUP – IDEALENS VR.
New England Institute of Technology offers over 50 associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in programs such as Digital Media Production; Game Development & Simulation Programming; Graphics, Multimedia and Web Design; Information Technology; and Video Game Design.
The IDEALENS K2 offers VR without wires or a phone, and doesn’t require any additional equipment. The headset has an onboard processor, graphics card, and battery, providing wireless mobility and a built-in battery pack that lasts for up to two hours.
The headset is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420 processor coupled with 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage with support for external expansion, 3.81-inch 2.5K AMOLED display, and 3,800mAh battery. Offering a staggering 770ppi, the IDEALENS K2 hits the industry benchmark of <17ms low latency and 90Hz high refresh rate.
The IDEALENS also offers instantaneous over-the-head support that fits any head size or shape and has the main body weight of less than two-thirds of a pound. It provides 120-degree wide-angle Field of View, internal IMU sensor with gesture support, motion tracking, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
For a demonstration, stop by the New England Tech booth #10086 at the PAX East conference in Boston, play some student-designed games, and try out our virtual tour on our brand new IDEALENS VR headsets.
