There are exciting things happening in the world of cyber security!
New England Institute of Technology along with the Rhode Island Department of Education, the RI Science & Technology Advisory Council, and Tech Collective will once again join Congressman Jim Langevin in offering the Rhode Island Cyber Foundations Competition. We are looking for talented Rhode Island high school students who one day may be future cyber security experts for U.S. companies and government agencies.
This competition has two parts. The first component is an on-line tutorial and video to help students study. The second part has quizzes so students may demonstrate their skills. Three main topics are covered: networking, operating systems, and system administration. To make it easier to prepare, each topic has a separate set of educational materials and a separate quiz. The quizzes are scheduled for November 2, November 16 and December 7 2012. So you can plan your time accordingly, each of the three competitions is expected to take a total of 2-6 hours of preparation time and about 1 hour for the quizzes.
If you would like to be a part of this exciting competition, register at www.cyberfoundations.org
by Monday, October 22, 2012. The cost for a high school to register is $100.00 with no limit to the number of students enrolling, or individuals may register for $25.00 per person.
Our Manager for Admissions Outreach and Events, Erin Flynn, is once again, serving as the RI Cyber Foundations Challenge State Coordinator. If you have any questions, contact Erin at 401-739-5000 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. Good luck!
