“Replay” Hit-Maker IYAZ (NEIT Grad) Is Back With New Single

New England Tech graduate, Iyaz released his latest single #Alive.

“Alive” Featuring Nash of HOT CHELLE RAE; and he is set To Perform On THE TODAY SHOW September 28th.

From 360 Magazine:

Multi-Platinum, singer-songwriter IYAZ – best known for his smash hit “Replay”,which was featured as part of an iPod campaign, sold a staggering 15-million singles, and climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 – has staged his comeback and has launched it with his first official single in four years. IYAZ has released the lyric video for “Alive” featuring Nash of Hot Chelle Rae and has announced that he’ll be performing the track for the first time on The TODAY Show,September 28th. This also marks the singer’s first TV performance in four years.

With inventive re-imaginings of the reggae-splashed, hook-heavy Pop/R&B, that artists like Rihanna, Omi, Nicki Minaj, and MAGIC! have made popular, Virgin Islands born IYAZ quickly built a huge cult following. Known for infectious melodies and incredibly catchy hooks, IYAZ has spent the last four years honing his craft as a songwriter and vocalist, as well as exploring his true sound and collaborating with artists like Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Travie McCoy, FloRida, Big Time Rush, David Guetta, Sean Kingston, Akon, Rick Ross, Charice, New Boyz, and more.

IYAZ’s songwriting style is timeless and universal. He’s a storyteller who paints visual scenarios that tug at the listener’s heart-strings. Every lyric he writes is handcrafted to relate and connect to the listener. He does this with clean lyrics, devoid of curse words and negative themes. Instead, the 26-year-old artist makes uplifting reggae-infused Pop/R&B melodies. With more confidence than ever and without the constraints of major label supervision, IYAZ is free to take artistic chances, while maintaining his innate ability to produce sing-able, accessible, great pop-tunes – which is evident on “Alive”.

IYAZ first broke onto the scene in 2010 after being discovered on his Myspace page by Sean Kingston and getting signed to label Beluga Heights, whose roster also included Jason Derulo. IYAZ went on to co-write “Replay” with label-mate Derulo, and the rest is history. “Replay” became one of the biggest songs of the summer, going six-times platinum. IYAZ followed the smash up with a double platinum hit (“Solo”) and two gold-certified songs (“Pretty Girls” with Travie McCoy and “So Big”), as well as sold-out gigs spanning the globe on major tours such as Justin Bieber’s “My World Tour”, London’s T4 Festival, andWango Tango.

“Alive” featuring Nash of Hot Chelle Rae is available now on iTunes.

Alumni News: Videos of homes for sale are in demand

Two New England Tech Graduates, Paul Raposo and Justin Hebert, show how they are using their degree in Digital Media Production (previously named Associate degree in Video Audio Production and Bachelors degree in Digital Recording Arts) into a great career.

From Providence Journal:

Producing videos to sell homes is a practice that has moved well beyond the rarified realm of the luxury market.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Some videos are clearly amateur jobs, possibly shot with a mobile phone. Some are slickly professional. Others are almost works of art.

Producing videos to sell homes is a practice that has moved well beyond the rarified realm of the luxury market. Westcott Properties, a Providence agency that specializes in foreclosures, is even making videos for bank-owned properties and rentals.

Last week, more than 800 of the nearly 5,200 residential property listings on riliving.com, the website of Rhode Island’s State-Wide Multiple Listing Service, had some sort of video accompaniment. Some of these are video versions of photographic slide shows, many with voice-overs. But others are more lushly produced and look like short films.

Residential Properties, which has five offices in Rhode Island, has two full-time videographers on staff and has made more than 500 videos for clients. The company is planning to expand its video marketing to highlight communities, enhance agent bios, and produce a video podcast featuring CEO Sally Lapides, Readey said.

Chace and Readey said their videos usually include community footage in addition to featuring the house itself. As Readey said, “You’re not just buying the house, you’re buying the location.”

On Tuesday morning, the Residential team was shooting a video for a new listing at 215 Arlington Ave., in Providence; the house is priced at $1,375,000.

Listing Realtor Nancy Markham said it is one of a number of high-end properties coming on to the market this spring on Providence’s East Side. A video “raises the profile of the house higher in search engines,” Markham said, and “everybody is attached to their computers.”

NEIT graduate, DeNucci is magazine cover story

New England Tech is proud to see Video Audio Production and Digital Recording Arts graduate, Tom DeNucci get the cover story of the September’s issue of IMAGINE magazine.  Everyone here at New England Tech would like to congratulate Tommy on his continued success in the film industry.

TommyDeNucci

From IMAGINE Magazine:

Tommy DeNucci was born in Cranston, RI in 1984 and at thirty he is a writer, actor, director and producer. He also has a five picture deal with Universal. He happens to be charismatic and lights up a screen. The camera likes him and so does the boom operator – a voice with resonance. He also expresses himself well. His mentor and creative partner in film production Chad Verdi says of Tommy, “his single most interesting character trait that I genuinely admire about Tommy is his willingness to always test others and make them better.” Before he was thirty he directed three films that received worldwide distribution. At present DeNucci and his team are editing ALMOST MERCY, the film he shot in eighteen days in May at twenty different locations in the Ocean State.  According to Tommy the film has a bigger feel than it should have considering its budget as he pushed the look he says as far as humanly possible.  Tommy recommends this to fledgling filmmakers, “Show up early and be the last to leave. Do the dirty work in the beginning. Learn the process from the very bottom, try to get in every circle you can and don’t think your ‘less than’ when you work from the bottom up…just go for it.”
