As the college’s Master of Science Degree program in Information Technology (IT) enters its fourth year this fall, it will now be expanded to offer students the option of completing their degree entirely online. The Information Technology program is designed for IT professionals who want to advance their knowledge in the field as a precursor for management positions in the IT industry. Each term, students may now select their courses in a traditional classroom environment, totally online, or in a hybrid combination of classroom and online offerings.
To be an effective Information Technology leader, a blend of operational and technical expertise, leadership and management of projects and teams, and a solid foundation in the principles of general management is required. The program’s mission is built around the components that comprise an organization’s informational infrastructure: the software applications that support the business processes, the information and data sources used to store data, the processes used to secure the data, the network used to access data and applications, and the people who design, manage and implement the applications, data and the network.
New England Tech’s IT program weaves technical topics such as network architecture, cloud computing and data analytics with finance, law, project management and leadership. The program provides individuals with the ability to analyze business scenarios, anticipate and respond to a continuously changing environment and effectively assign resources that make up the organization’s information system. Employment opportunities for graduates of this program may include Project Manager, Chief Information Officer, Chief Technical Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, Network Manager and Systems Integrator.
