Pit Crew Club Gets A Boost

Return to Career Choices

The Automotive Technology Department recently took ownership of a 1999 Monte Carlo Chevrolet Pro Stock race car donated to the college by Michael Marfeo, owner/driver and President of Motorsport Productions in Exeter, RI.

The #55 Foxwoods/Dunkin' Donuts sponsored rolling chasis will be used by the Automotive Technology instructor and faculty adviser of the Pit Crew Club, Dan Perry. Dan will use the car to train members of the Pit Crew Club in the skills necessary to follow NASCAR rules regarding car weighing, measuring and replacing tires, left- and right-side weights, how gravity works on a race car's front end, and getting a race car prepped for race trim, just to mention a few of the things to be learned about a race car.

Members of the Pit Crew Club will take these skills with them when they work the "Pit" at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Mass, when the racing season begins this spring.
