  • Earn an Associate’s Degree in as little as 18 months, days or evenings.
  • Function as an integral part of the surgical team. Work in cooperation with surgeons and registered nurses, performing duties that are vital for the safety and care of surgical patients during operative procedures.
  • Theory and practice are integrated through the use of simulated laboratory experiences and 540 hours of actual hospital operating room experience.
  • Program includes study of the ethical and legal dimensions of the work and profession of the Surgical Technologist.
  • Extensive course work in Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Medical Terminology. In addition, program prepares students for the National Certification Exam given by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist (LCC-ST).
  • Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • Supervised clinical practice in surgical environments prepares the student for entry-level positions in such areas as hospital operating room department, obstetrical departments, surgical supply and/or processing departments, outpatient surgical centers, and surgeon office practices.
  • Program was developed with the support and cooperation of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island.
