Commencement Information 2018

Congratulations to the members of the 2018 Graduating Class!

You have worked very hard to earn your degree and you must be looking forward to celebrating this accomplishment with your faculty, family and friends! We look forward to seeing you at the 2018 Commencement, an event that is so special to our graduates, their families and the NEIT community.

Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Dunkin Donuts Center, 1 La Salle Square, Providence, RI. Directions can be found at:  Graduates must arrive by 9:45 a.m. The ceremony typically lasts 2 ½ hours.

Students who have completed or will complete all degree requirements during the following period: July, 2017 (Intersession) through June, 2018 (Spring Quarter) are invited to participate in this year’s ceremony.

You can order your cap and gown by completing the Graduation Form (click here). There is no cost to you and you may keep your cap and gown as a keepsake.

  • Plan to pick up your cap and gown at the NEIT Grad Fair, which will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Student Center on the East Greenwich Campus (watch for more details).
  • The regalia for the graduates will include the cap and gown and, if applicable, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society or Alpha Chi Honor Society stole (see below).  No other stoles, cords or other academic items should be worn.

Graduates who are members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK)  and the Alpha Chi Honor Society may choose to purchase a stole at the NEIT Bookstore or online from PTK ( or Alpha Chi ( signifying their membership in the honor society. NEIT graduates who graduate with honors will not receive a stole unless they are a PTK or Alpha Chi member and purchase one; however, their names will be announced “with honors” when they cross the stage. If you have questions or would like to join one of the honor societies, contact Karen Arnold Schultz, Assistant Provost, in the Office of Teaching and Learning at or 401-739-5000 ext. 3322.

You may bring as many guests as you would like.
