New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) will host TechArts, an annual art exhibit showcasing the talents of its students, faculty and staff. The public may visit the library at NEIT’s East Greenwich Campus located at One New England Tech Blvd. enjoy the many creative works on display when the exhibit is open, usually from the end of March through the beginning of June. All types of fine art and applied art are exhibited including drawings, sculpture, photographs, paintings, handmade furniture, costumes, watercolors and more.
TechArts began as an art installation in 1995 offering the college community the opportunity to share their creativity. The concept of TechArts resurfaced in 2004 when a committee of faculty and administrative staff members became fully committed to keeping this tradition alive as an annual event. Art continues to have a permanent place in the college’s 27,000 sq. ft. library. Some of the student work on display is a product of the art-related humanities and social science courses offered at NEIT.
The New England Tech library is open Monday-Thursday from 7:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m., Friday from 7:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. For more information, visit http://library.neit.edu or contact Sharon Charette, Director of the Library and Information Commons at 401-739-5000, ext. 3447 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
