Undergraduate Admissions Requirements

• Current High School Students

  Students entering, or during the course of, their senior year, are encouraged to submit an application to New England Institute of Technology. In addition to the application, students must submit the following:

  1. Submit your application through the Common Application or through NEIT’s application portal – we have no preference between the two!
  2. Submit official copies of all high school transcripts including senior year courses and/or senior year grades.
  3. Nursing applicants must submit a successfully completed and passed Kaplan assessment. Call 401-739-5000 or email [email protected] to schedule yours.
  4. Applicants are also highly encouraged, though not required, to submit the following:

  • • • • 2-3 Letters of Recommendation from teachers, employers, coaches, mentors, etc. who know both your academic abilities and personality
        • A 300-500 word open-topic essay
• College Transfer Students

  Students who have completed high school and are enrolled in, or have attempted, 12 or more college/university credits, are considered transfer applicants. Transfer applicants must submit:

  1. Submit your application through the Common Application or through NEIT’s application portal – we have no preference between the two!
  2. Submit official copies of all high school transcripts, GED certificates, or homeschool certificates.
  3. Submit official college transcripts from all post-secondary school institutions that you have attended.
  4. Nursing applicants must submit a successfully completed and passed Kaplan assessment. Call 401-739-5000 or email [email protected] to schedule yours.
  5. Applicants are highly encouraged, though not required, to submit the following:

  • • • • 2-3 Letters of Recommendation from teachers, employers, coaches, mentors, etc. who know both your academic abilities and personality
        • A 300-500 word open-topic essay

• Non-Traditional First Time Applicants

  Students who completed high school more than five years prior to enrolling at New England Institute of Technology, but not yet having earned 12 or more college/university credits, are considered non-traditional first-time applicants. In order to be considered for admission, students must submit:

  1. Submit your application through the Common Application or through NEIT’s application portal – we have no preference between the two!
  2. Submit official copies of all high school transcripts, GED certificates, or homeschool certificates.
  3. Nursing applicants must submit a successfully completed and passed Kaplan assessment. Call 401-739-5000 or email [email protected] to schedule yours.
  4. Students must complete the College Board’s Next Generation ACCUPLACER assessment. Call 401-739-5000 or email [email protected] to schedule yours.
  5. Applicants are highly encouraged, though not required, to submit the following:

  • • • • 2-3 Letters of Recommendation from teachers, employers, coaches, mentors, etc. who know both your academic abilities and personality
        • A 300-500 word open-topic essay
• Homeschooled Applicants

  3. Home school instructors must send a copy of student enrollment, certification, or documents that state the student is home-schooled.

  5. Applicants are also highly encouraged, though not required, to submit the following:

  • • • • 2-3 Letters of Recommendation from teachers, employers, coaches, mentors, etc. who know both your academic abilities and personality
        • A 300-500 word open-topic essay
• International Applicants

  Applicants who are not United States Citizens, or Permanent Residents of the United States, are considered international applicants. International applicants must submit:

  1. Submit your application through the Common Application or through NEIT’s application portal – we have no preference between the two!
  2. Secondary school (high school) transcript(s); if the transcript is not in English, the applicant must also submit a translated copy.
  3. English Proficiency – Students must meet English language proficiency requirements in one of the following ways:
     • Is a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada (not including Quebec), Cook Islands, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, St. Kitts and  Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Sweden, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, United Kingdom, and/or Zimbabwe.
     • Submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
     • Graduated, or is on track to graduate, from a foreign institution where the language of instruction for the secondary and/or post-secondary degree(s) was English.
     • Graduated, or is on track to graduate, from a U.S. accredited school abroad with English as the medium of instruction.
     • Graduated, or is on track to graduate, from a secondary school in the U.S. that he/she attended for a minimum of one year and that included at least one unit of college preparatory English.
     • Earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the U.S. or has completed at least 12 or more credits at an accredited institution of higher education in the U.S.

  5. Applicants are also highly encouraged, though not required, to submit the following:

• RN to BSN Applicants
  1. Submit your application through the Common Application or through NEIT’s application portal – we have no preference between the two!
  2. Submit an official college transcript verifying graduation with a nursing degree from a nationally or regionally accredited post-secondary institution with a minimum GPA of 2.7. 
  3. Submit proof of a valid, unencumbered RN license from any state in the United States or U.S. Territory (proof must be submitted before student’s third term of enrollment).
  4. New England Institute of Technology is a participating National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) institution.Note:  NEIT’s RN to BSN program cannot accept students from the following states due to nursing licensure regulations surrounding the Nurse Compact Act:

  5. Provide documentation of the completion of the following prerequisite courses (or equivalent) with a grade of “C+” or better:

  • • • • BIO 107 Comprehensive Anatomy & Physiology I with Lab
        • BIO 127 Comprehensive Anatomy & Physiology II with Lab
        • BIO 122 Microbiology
        • PS 140 Lifespan Development
        • SO 203 Social Problems
        • Two Humanities Electives
        • EN 100 Introduction to College Writing
