Academic Year
An academic year consists of 3 terms and is approximately 9 months long. The length of time to complete a program varies depending upon prerequisites and the number of credits taken each term. See the individual program description for details.
Tuition and Fees Payments
The tuition and fees for each academic term are due at the beginning of each academic term. Tuition and fees for intersession are due at the beginning of intersession.
Tuition
Normally, for purposes of tuition assessment, NEIT defines a full-time course load as 12-19 credits per term. The tuition for these terms will remain at the full-time tuition rate. Student’s taking less than 12 course credits in a term will be assessed $700.00 per credit for tuition. Students taking more than 19 course credits in a term will be assessed the at the full-time tuition rate plus an additional tuition of $700.00 per credit hour for credits exceeding 19. All term fees will also be applicable. Please contact the Student Accounts Office for further information on tuition.
Employment Statistics
Records regarding employment of graduates of our degree programs who were available for employment are available at the Career Services Office.
Financial Aid
Students receiving tuition benefits from New England Institute of Technology or its partners are not eligible for additional scholarships.
Scholarship and other institutional aid is subject to modification due to verification, change in billable charges, change in Expected Family Contribution (EFC), availability of federal, state, and institutional funds, changes in tuition and room and board charged by the University, satisfactory academic progress, registration status, change of major, eligibility for tuition remission, or receipt of aid from outside sources or government agencies. Students approved to live off campus are not charged room and board; financial aid, including scholarship awards, is adjusted according to the new billed charges.
The university offers students assistance in applying for financial aid. The university does not guarantee eligibility for financial aid. Failure to obtain or continue to obtain financial aid does NOT relieve a student of his/her financial obligations to the university.
Past-Due Accounts
Past-due accounts are subject to late fees and the withholding of university services, for example registration, graduation, transcript requests and to assignment to outside collection agencies. In an action brought to enforce the student’s financial obligations to the university, the student agrees to pay all reasonable costs and expenses including attorney’s fees incurred by the university in maintaining such action.
Postponements and Delays
Scheduled starting dates for technical programs (the beginning of a core sequence in the specific program) are subject to postponement by NEIT. If the scheduled starting date for the program in which a student has enrolled must be postponed and the student has not attended any classes at NEIT, he/she may withdraw and obtain a refund, or may wait for the new start date. If enrollment for a specific course is below the minimum number of students the university feels is necessary to offer the course, the university has the option to postpone the beginning of the course until the minimum number of students is met.
Auditing a Course
Students may choose to register for classes on an audit basis when space is available in the class (laboratory, doctoral and online courses may not be audited). No credit or grade is earned for an audited course, but it will be recorded on the student’s academic transcript with a grade marker of AU (Audit). Subsequently, an audited course cannot satisfy program requirements and does not have an impact on GPA calculation. The academic work required in an audit situation is at the discretion of the course’s instructor. Satisfactory academic progress may be impacted if the student is registered for a class as an audit but then subsequently withdraws from the audited class. If this change causes the student to complete less than the required pace completion, the student will fail to meet the pace standard. Audited classes do impact a student’s maximum time frame as they are considered attempted hours.
Interested students must meet with the Office of Student Support Services and Student Account to complete a Course Audit Request Form. (Note: Prerequisite course requirements must be completed.)
Audited courses are subject to normal tuition fees, and must be registered by the end of the add/drop period.
Students who are auditing a class are not eligible to receive financial aid for that class.
