Cybersecurity Defense Master's Degree

It’s no secret that cybersecurity has become one of the most critical IT functions, with an accelerating demand for well educated and experienced specialists. If you’re a technology professional with experience in networking, cybersecurity or software engineering with the ambition to shape a leadership role in this fast-emerging function, then our specialized Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity Defense (MSCD) can help you realize your career goals.

Information and the technology infrastructure it resides on are two of an organization’s most valuable assets, and these are often threatened or under active attack. Successful defense and protection of these assets require a trained cybersecurity professional who not only understands the technical aspects but also is aware of strategic business interests.

While the bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity and Network Engineering prepare graduates to secure, design, and implement networks, databases, and applications, our master’s program provides you with the additional ability to:

  • address post-incident business impacts
  • analyze business scenarios and assess risk
  • anticipate and respond to a continuously changing environment
  • effectively assign resources to the entities that comprise the enterprise information systems

Our in-depth curriculum is based on the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification knowledge areas. The program blends technical knowledge and essential cybersecurity skills with business management and enterprise leadership principles. It weaves technical topics such as penetration testing and digital forensics with project management, leadership, and risk assessment.

You’ll gain in-depth study in such diverse functional areas as:

  • Digital forensics and breach investigations
  • Ethical hacking
  • Incident response planning
  • Secure software development
  • Security auditing and risk management

Flexibility and Convenience for Working Professionals
The program offers four start dates per year – in January, April, July, and October.

Accelerated Schedule: Our courses are organized into four academic terms per calendar year, each ten weeks long. In this way, you can secure your degree in as few as 18 months.

Convenient Online or On-Campus Courses:  The program can be completed entirely online. Or, if you prefer an on-campus experience, you can choose to enroll in face-to-face weekday evening sections for all courses, which meet once per week. For maximum convenience, you can mix and match your program, taking some courses online and some on campus. Our online courses let you do your work anytime 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
