Designed for registered nurses to become family nurse practitioners (FNPs), the MSN FNP program at NEIT allows registered nurses with an earned bachelor’s degree and an active, unencumbered license to continue their education and earn a master’s degree in nursing.

Rigorous Curriculum
The MSN FNP program comprises eight terms (24 months) of full-time nursing education, including a rigorous curriculum integrating the three Ps: Advanced Pathophysiology, Physical Assessment, and Pharmacology, as recommended by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing programs (AACN, 2011).

What Does a Family Nurse Practitioner Do?
Family nurse practitioners serve as primary healthcare providers in many settings, such as primary care clinics, urgent care centers, hospitals, community, school, or university health centers, long-term and elder care facilities, and home healthcare or telehealth.
FNPs have the academic knowledge and clinical abilities to lead in health promotion, disease prevention, assessment, and management of common acute and chronic illnesses across the health continuum — at NEIT, our program prepares nurses to do all this and more.
Our FNP program focuses on developing the skills necessary to deliver nursing care throughout the lifespan, including diverse and underserved areas. Upon completing the MSN program, graduates can take the Family Nurse Practitioner certification exam given by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
