Merit Scholarships & Grants
Beyond the need-based institutional aid that New England Institute of Technology provides to the vast majority of its students each year, we also offer numerous opportunities for students to earn additional scholarship support to help defray the costs of their education. As part of our comprehensive financial aid packaging, New England Tech offers institutionally supported merit scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $12,000. All students are considered for merit-based scholarships, with no separate application required. Many scholarships are based on criteria such as academic strength, leadership, or community service. If you are awarded a scholarship through the admissions process and also have financial need, your merit award will be incorporated into your need-based financial aid package. Students who potentially qualify for more than one of the merit awards will be entitled to one merit scholarship – the scholarship with the largest award amount. For any of the below scholarship and grant opportunities, priority is given to students who apply before February 1 each academic year.
Presidential Scholarship
Each year, NEIT awards recipients of its President Scholarship up to $12,000 per academic year for their exemplary academic performance. Students are considered based on their high school or college grade point average and SAT/ACT or Accuplacer scores.
Skills USA Scholarship
High school students participating in the Skills USA program are qualified to receive annual scholarship support from NEIT. First place is awarded a $2,000 scholarship; second place is $1,500 scholarship and third place is a $1,000 scholarship. Students must submit a copy of their team’s award that acknowledges the student’s participation.
Project Lead the Way Scholarship
Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is a non-profit organization that empowers students in grades K–12 with in-demand, transportable skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) courses. NEIT recognizes students from PLTW-participating high schools across the nation with up to $3,000 per academic year in a scholarship, college course credit and more. Interested students must inform their NEIT admissions officer of their participation in PLTW.
FIRST® Robotics Tech Challenge Scholarship
Each year, student robotics teams from participating middle and high schools nationally and internationally assemble to design, build and compete in the annual FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Tech Challenge. Students from the top three Rhode Island FIRST TECH Challenge Championship Winning Alliance teams become eligible for annual, renewable scholarships up to $10,000 at NEIT. Students must submit a copy of their team’s award that acknowledges the student’s participation.
CCRI Scholarship
New England Tech has a long-standing relationship with CCRI and has welcomed hundreds of current and former CCRI students who have been interested in accelerating their career potential by completing their degrees at NEIT. CCRI students transferring to NEIT for any of our programs (except our Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program) are eligible to receive a one-time $3,000 scholarship upon their start at New England Tech.
CCRI students transferring to NEIT’s Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program are eligible to receive a scholarship in the amount of $375/term, for a maximum of eight terms.
Scholarship Search Websites
Many private agencies, companies, clubs and civic organizations offer scholarships to help college students pay for their educational costs. Below are some links that any current or potential college student can use to search for scholarships. Private scholarships often require applicants to meet certain awarding criteria and adhere to strict application deadlines. The Financial Aid Office at New England Tech encourages all our students to seek scholarship help from private sources. However, be cautious when communicating with websites that promote college scholarships. Never apply for a scholarship that asks you to pay a fee, and do not provide your social security number, banking information or credit card number to any scholarship website or application.
