RI Cloud Security Seminar

On Friday, May 26, New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) will be the host site for a full-day educational event around Cloud Security, provided by RI (ISC)² and ISACA-RI, in partnership with OPTIV Security. (details below)

The event is open to the public and a learning opportunity for all levels of information security professionals, IT Auditors and those interested in this growing field. Attendees will learn about the latest solutions available in this space, hear success stories put in place by practitioners and earn 7 CPEs.

A keynote address will be given by Rhode Island Congressman Jim Langevin, a recognized congressional leader on Cybersecurity.

(ISC)² is an international nonprofit membership association focused on inspiring a safe and secure cyber world. (ISC)² Chapters provide members with the opportunity to build a local network of peers to share knowledge, exchange resources, collaborate on projects, and create new ways to earn CPE credits.

ISACA, founded in 1969, helps business and IT leaders build trust in, and value from, information and information systems. It provides knowledge, standards, networking, and career development for information systems audit, assurance, security, risk, privacy and governance professionals to its more than 100,000 constituents in 180 countries.

This past winter, students in NEIT’s Video Game Design and Development (VGDD) program had a real-world experience of a lifetime when the Newport Naval War College’s (NWC) Center for Cyber-Conflict Studies (C3S) sponsored a video game design charrette – a collective brainstorming process – with real world application. More than 40 students enrolled for the opportunity to pitch real-time strategic-operational level game concepts to a panel of five judges, with the best designs meant for a prototype game to be developed.

The selected concepts were then examined by a faculty team from the NWC’s Center for Cyber-Conflict Studies. The result of the C3S team’s review was a new composite game design concept loosely based on components of the students’ games. The new concept – known as F.I.T.E., Futuristic Intelligent Tactical Equipment – is the basis for the next charrette. The result of this event will be the development of a playable prototype to be used by the Naval War College for training Naval Officers in strategic cyber security problem-solving.

NEIT offers a range of associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Information Technology, including a bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security and Network Engineering. Learn more about how you can turn your passion into a great career at www.neit.edu.
