The Annual Employee Campaign Really Does Make a Difference!

The Employee Scholarship Fund was established in 2013 to address the financial needs of incoming students, and, in the course of just two years, the Employee Scholarship Fund has provided more than $33,000 to our students thanks to NEIT staff and faculty’s generosity.

As students enroll for the October quarter, many of them, even with financial aid awards, still fall short financially and may have been precluded from obtaining an education at NEIT.  Due to your generosity and that of others in the community, nearly $65,000 in scholarships has been awarded to 27 students. Contributions to the Employee Scholarship Fund, the General Scholarship Fund and the Alumni Scholarship Fund have made these awards possible.  If you have participated in past Employee Campaigns and designated your contributions to any one of those funds, or participated in the Annual Alumni Golf Tournament, you have had a “direct” impact on the future of these students.  And that is something of which you should be very proud.

Department-specific scholarships will be awarded to current students who apply for these scholarships during the annual scholarship application period now underway.  Current students are urged to apply for the many scholarships available within their technology, as well as for a range of scholarships funded by friends of the college.

2014 NEIT Employee Campaign Is A Great Success!

Employee Scholarship FundOn October 22nd, New England Tech kicked off its 2014 Employee Campaign, the first event commemorating the college’s 75th Anniversary. NEIT President Richard Gouse addressed faculty and staff sharing his vision for the future of the college. He explained how the college has reached a pivotal point in its evolution from its early beginnings in 1940 with the construction of its first 400-bed residence hall on the East Greenwich campus.

In honor of New England Tech’s 75th Anniversary, a goal was set to achieve 75% employee participation in the Campaign.  It was truly an aggressive goal.  However, with the passion, persistence, and excitement of the Campaign Captains and the generosity of faculty and staff, the 75% participation goal was achieved!  The Campaign raised nearly $39,000 to support scholarships, the Building Fund, and a variety of specific technology programs.

In the words of Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” Recognition must go to those individuals responsible for making the Campaign such a great a success, the Campaign Team Captains: Cheryl Booker, Sherry Clukey, Tim Culhane, Kathy DaSilva, Melissa Hague, Anna Kelly, Bob Kennedy, Cheryl MacDonald, Mike Markarian, Anna Martinelli, Bill Menard, Rebecca Renaud, Carole Stiles, Susan Warthman, and Pam Wilkinson. They came together as Campaign Captains, stayed together, and worked together to achieve success.

The 2014 Employee Campaign Begins

New England Tech kicked off its 2014 Employee Campaign on Wednesday, October 22nd, in the Regan Lounge at the college’s East Greenwich campus. The Campaign will run from October 22, 2014, through November 21, 2014; however, contributions to the Employee Campaign may be made anytime throughout fiscal year 2014-2015. Contributions to the Employee Campaign may be made through payroll deduction, cash, check or credit card.

An Employee Campaign is an important component of any college or university’s Annual Fund.

During the Campaign Kick-Off, President Gouse thanked everyone for their past campaign support and for attending this year’s Kick-Off. He shared the vision and plan for expanding the campus over the next several years and discussed the construction status of the first dorm and the importance of positioning the college to accommodate more out-of-state, residential students.

Bob Theroux, Vice President of Finance and Business Administration, recognized those employees who previously participated in the Employee Campaign and designated their donation to student scholarships. As a result of this generosity, 10 students facing financial difficulties will receive scholarships at this year’s awards presentation in December. He also noted that Information Technology, Building Construction, and Auxiliary Services, through their collective contributions, each attained the required $500 scholarship amount to provide awards to students designated by these three departments.
