New England Tech Hosts the 24hr Summer Video Game Jam on August 11-12

logo for 2017 New England Tech 24hr Summer Game JamOn August 11 and 12 New England Institute of Technology’s (NEIT) Video Game Development and Design Department, along with the student-led Game Developer’s Network club, will host its annual 24-hour, overnight Summer Game Jam.

Any and all students currently enrolled at NEIT are welcome to join the event.

At the start, the Jam theme will be revealed. Teams then have 24-hours to brainstorm, prototype and develop working video, card or board games. No game experience? There’s always room for people with ideas, and who like to play games, have fun and who’d enjoy an overnight event on campus.

“We’re excited to host this event for our students,” says Erik van Renselaar, professor and IT Department Chair. “It’s both a unique bonding experience and a great opportunity for them to learn from their peers as both freshmen and seniors will work together on creating innovative games.”

Bill Culbertson, Associate Professor added: “At our first game jam, only a few teams were able to complete projects that resembled games. After seven years of experience, almost every team is able to complete finished games that are fun to play with great content.”
