New England Tech to Host Microsoft’s DigiGirlz 2017 on March 17

DigiGirlz 2017 on March 17

Supported by Governor Gina Raimondo, and in partnership with New England Institute of Technology (NEIT), Microsoft is offering DigiGirlz 2017 at NEIT, an event for 150 middle and high school girls in Rhode Island.

DigiGirlz, a Microsoft YouthSpark program, gives middle and high school girls opportunities to learn about careers in technology, participate in hands-on computer and technology workshops, and the unique opportunity to connect with Microsoft employees.

During the one-day event, students interact with industry professionals to gain exposure to careers in business and technology and to get an inside look at what it’s like to work in the industry. The event provides girls with career planning assistance, information about technology and business roles, thought-provoking exercises, and interesting technology demonstrations. By participating in the Microsoft DigiGirlz Day, young women can learn about the variety of opportunities available in the high-tech industry and can explore future career paths.

Today, March 8, is International Women’s Day – a day full of festivities celebrated by the international community to increase gender equality, while celebrating diversity and the achievements of women worldwide. New England Tech supports women in all their professional career ambitions, including those in the fields of technology. New England Tech offers technology-focused associate and bachelor’s degree programs in Game Development & Simulation Programming, Graphics, Multimedia and Web Design, Information Technology, Network Engineering Technology, Software Engineering Technology, Video Game Design, Cyber Security and Network Engineering and Digital Media Production.
