New England Tech Vet Tech Program Earns National Ranking

New England Institute of Technology’s Associate in Science degree program in Veterinary Technology was ranked 35 out of 221 accredited programs in the U.S. by The Best Colleges whose mission is to help match prospective students to those accredited colleges and universities that best fit their academic goals.

According to The Best Colleges, it selected the top colleges and universities that provide hands-on learning with a variety of animal species. Other factors considered were admissions rate, loan default rate, retention rate, graduation rate and the percent of students enrolled in online classes which are all common predictors of future student success and a school’s commitment to its students.

All data points were taken from information provided by New England Tech to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), a resource maintained by the National Center for Education Statistics.

One of the reasons NEIT’s Veterinary Technology program received an impressive ranking by The Best Colleges was because of the university’s commitment to practical, experienced-based learning. NEIT Vet Tech students gain real-world experience working two days a week at the Pets in Need (PIN) Veterinary Clinic in Riverside, RI. The Clinic offers services to low-income pet owners at a 70 percent discount. The PIN Clinic opened in June 2016. Within 48 hours, it received 106 calls from people who were unable to afford the veterinary care their pets desperately needed. Today, thirty veterinarians volunteer time to help PIN’s pets and their owners.

NEIT’s Vet Tech Program Ranked Among Top 20 Best in the US

New England Institute of Technology cited as among the top 20 best colleges in the United States.

The rankings were released by The Community for Accredited Online Schools (AccreditedSchoolsOnline.org), a leading higher education information and resource provider. The organization analyzed data from thousands of colleges across the U.S. to determine its list of top schools.

Comparing both online and on-campus programs at schools across the U.S., the online higher education resource provider ranked schools providing the best overall value for Veterinary Technician students.

“Job outlook projections show veterinary technician positions growing much faster than the national average through 2024,” said Doug Jones, CEO and Founder of the Community for Accredited Online Schools. “Schools on these lists are not only providing quality veterinary technician programs but are also making an extra effort to help students land a job after graduation.”

Schools must meet specific baseline requirements to be considered for a spot on the ranking. All institutions must hold regional accreditation and be registered as public or private not-for-profit entities. Schools are also required to provide career services to their students. Once a school’s eligibility is determined, the Community for Accredited Online Schools scores and ranks each based on more than a dozen data points, including graduation rates, student-teacher ratios and financial aid availability, to determine the overall Best Schools in the US.
