RETURNS HOME FOR A SPECIAL SCREENING

Filmmaker Victorious Ramos is humbled by the positive reaction to his $500 movie shot in just 4 days
Providence, RI – Three months ago, first time writer and director Victorious Ramos premiered a feature-length film produced in just 4 days on a $500 budget called La Guagua: Door To Door (The Bus).
The entire romantic comedy was shot in the state of Rhode Island with local actors leading the comedic charge.
After a successful private screening to statewide media groups, La Guagua debuted as the opening film for the Providence Latin American Film Festival at the University of Rhode Island. The screening sold out the PAFF Theatre. It was the first time since the festival’s inception that a locally produced film created such a stir. An unanticipated public demand at local radio stations created an opportunity for the film to screen a second time at a larger venue. The film had its encore presentation at the historic Columbus Theatre in Providence to twice the amount of patrons and it sold out all 800 seats of the theater. It wasn’t long before the phone started ringing and La Guagua found itself on a road trip that included the historic Trail Theatre in Miami and Rutgers University in New Jersey.
The success of these screenings quickly spread and Vic Ramos was called to appear on Fox News (Providence), Centro (CBS-Boston), Un Nuevo Dia (NBC/Telemundo-NYC), Encuentro Latino (Comcast International Channel), WRHC Broadcasting (Miami) and WPMZ Poder (Providence).
The project has now been invited to multiple screenings in Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, New York, Massachusetts, Philadelphia and the Dominican Republic. Additional cities are added with every screening as audience members take to social media to praise the project. In less than four months this micro project, produced on a $500 budget, has managed to create a name for itself and audiences are jumping on board for the ride.
Sixcia Devine, author of the book Tapping Into The Hispanic Market has called the film “Authentic and Hilarious” while Carlos Muñoz, host and reporter on Latino Public Radio describes La Guagua as “the most important film production for Latinos in Providence.”
As Dominican Independence Day nears (Feb 27th), La Guagua: Door To Door has been invited to screen once again in Providence, RI, the city where it all began, as part of a number of activities celebrating Dominican Heritage. The film will be screened at the Avon Cinema, considered by many to be the mecca of independent films in Providence.
The viewing is sponsored by CTE Synergy. LLC. and will be presented to select audiences on Saturday, March 1st at 1pm / 260 Thayer Street, Providence, RI. Members of the media are invited to interact with the filmmakers and cast. The film is open for critical review.
