President’s Letter | March 9, 2021
To the NEIT Community,
Last year when NEIT held a virtual commencement, the entire NEIT community hoped that we would not still be dealing with the pandemic in 2021. Our wish was for the next commencement ceremony to be in-person at the Dunkin Donuts Center with graduates and their families in attendance. Unfortunately, that wish is not to be. COVID restrictions are still in place and our venue for commencement, the Dunkin Donuts Center, is a mass vaccination site. Additionally, we don’t know now what the status of COVID and related restrictions will be in May; however, we need to move forward with commencement planning with the safety of our community as our top consideration. Therefore, to recognize our graduates’ achievements while maintaining the safety of the NEIT community, we will have a virtual commencement ceremony on May 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
Last year, we learned that a virtual ceremony can still be very personal for our graduates. The grads were pictured in their caps and gowns with their degrees listed, and their names were announced. Many submitted a brief video in which they thanked their family and friends for their support, and some shared a few words about the importance of receiving their degrees. The ability for graduates to personalize their commencement moment and for the NEIT community to share in that made the virtual ceremony special.
You will be sent the link and information needed to view the ceremony as we get closer to May 23rd.
We look forward to this special event and celebrating our graduates!
